The Woodspeen is a prestigious gastronomic venue created by John Campbell just outside Newbury. The venue incorporates a separate cookery school and a restaurant, which has been designed into the former public house.

Undertaken in 2014, the project requirements were exacting. Affective space utilisation, atmosphere, character and ergonomics needed to come together to achieve the desired goal for the restaurant. The kitchen design has met this brief, with its theatre style cooking range, incorporating remote induction generators, as well its full utilisation of the available space for the back of house kitchen, and stewarding facilities.

There is also an external freezer room and cold room facility, which has been blended into the building construction. John Campbell stated, “The efficiency of the kitchen design is a key factor to the restaurants success, the equipment selection and quality of the installation has been spot on”. Charles Parker undertook the design and project management of this facility while working at his former employer, Gratte Brothers Catering Equipment Ltd. This installation went on to win Kitchen of the year in its category at the 2015 CEDA awards.
